If you have decided that Mallorca and the Mediterranean are where you – and those close to you – want to make your home, this new development in the Bonanova district on the outskirts of Palma is for you. Iconically designed to give residents a unique lifestyle, it stylishly and sustainably blends into the local environment, but with its own distinct and memorable character, combining minimalism with authentic and sincere design proposals rooted in local culture.
Welcome to Parallel East & West, two contemporary residential buildings with 12 homes – all sharing the same elegant architectural footprint – but each designed to fit into the landscape and afford an extraordinary living experience complemented by outstanding views over their surroundings. Residents will relish and enjoy the peace and quiet, only a step away from Palma’s hustle and bustle, and where families can always come together – but where a moment of solitude is always at hand with a run in the adjacent woodlands, or a dip at a nearby beach.
The 12 residences with private swimming pools allow you to choose between having your own secluded garden or a spectacular rooftop terrace with panoramic views over Palma’s bay, Cala Mayor and Illetas. Architecturally, the buildings are constructed to be both sustainable and energy efficient, with the main facades designed with an outer layer of sleek wooden blinds inspired in traditional Mediterranean latticework. This contemporary and eye-catching solution both ensures inner privacy as well as creating a constantly changing play of light and shadow within each home, adding a touch of extra life to each space. Following a smart design principle, these blinds can change their position according to the season, going from vertical to horizontal, depending on the desired amount of sunlight. Other principles of eco-design have been given pride of place in the project ensuring that maximum respect for the environment is paramount, lessening as far as possible the building’s impact on its surroundings. This means that as you enjoy life at its best you can also feel secure in knowing you’re also living in harmony with everything around you. And for all residents of Parallel East & West who like fitness, both complexes offer their own fully equipped and air-conditioned gym.
The characteristic wooden blinds on the facade form a moveable and in itself constantly changing skin. The almost magical play of parallel shadows and rays of light is ever-present and adds to the buildings exceptional atmosphere. On lower floors the facade rises out from the building front. Like pergolas the wooden blindfolds are stretching out over the gardens, creating an agreeable connection between inside and outside. Different textures and earthy tones together with the asymmetrical nature of the openings refreshingly interrupt flatness and regularity, infusing the modern architecture with an organic feel to create a perfect living experience. Materials like natural island stone provide texture and warmth to the space, while seamlessly integrating the kitchen with the living room. Hydraulic tiles in soft tones, spacious cement sinks and wooden floors produce a pleasing mix of materials and textures in the bathrooms, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Even the community gym has its own outdoor garden, a patio flooding the space with natural light.
